Mission

The Shaker Middle School PTA is a not-for-profit association. Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by helping provide opportunities for them to grow personally and socially. We are committed to enhancing and enriching the education of our students and fostering a sense of community within our school. 

How to Join The PTA

Becoming a member is the easiest way to support the PTA!  The cost is $10 per member.  Any family member, student, or community member can join.  You can join online or by filling out a paper membership form  and returning it to school with payment by cash or check (made out to Shaker Middle School PTA).Becoming a member doesn’t require you to attend meetings. You’re always welcome to attend all or part of a meeting either in person or virtually.  Meetings also give you the opportunity to get to know other parents, school administrators, and teachers. 2023-2024 PTA Meeting Schedule

Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Shaker Middle School library and via Zoom when possible.  Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Volunteer List

We sometimes need volunteers to sell dance or roller skating tickets during lunch, sell spirit wear items, or help with the book fair.  If you’d like to hear about these opportunities when they arise, please fill out this form.  https://forms.gle/wCwsy6wruW87s7Y89 

You’re not committing to anything by providing your contact information. We’ll add you to our email list and send an email to see who might be available when we need some help!  You can request to be removed at any time.  

For the convenience of our families, prepackaged school supplies can be ordered at www.schooltoolbox.com. Search for Shaker Middle School and select a box by grade and hall.  Orders will be shipped to the address you provide

PTA Supported Activities

The PTA helps support a number of activities at the middle school, including:

• Spirit Day Raffle Prizes
• Caught Being a BISON Program
• Minute to Win It or other activities
• Student Council Dances 
• Blue and White Day End of Year Celebrations
• Shaker Middle School Musical
• 8^th Grade Class Trip to the Great Escape
• Staff Appreciation
• 6^th Grade T-shirts – The PTA helps provide funds to give a Shaker Middle School t-shirt to each incoming 6^th grader.
• 8^th Grade Class Gift – In the high school, each class is responsible for raising money for field trips or proms.  $250 is given to the 8^th grade classes to get them started.
• Fall and Spring Scholastic Book Fairs
• Apparel Sales
• Restaurant Nights
• Guptill’s Skate Days

Special Education PTA

The North Colonie Special Education PTA was chartered on January 15, 2008, with 31 members.The North Colonie Special Education PTA is the first of its kind in our region. It serves special education and gifted students in grades pre-K through 12. New members are welcome to join by attending upcoming meetings or by contacting the president.
