Elementary

Welcome to Southgate Elementary, a peaceable school.  In addition to a strong academic program anchored in the Common Core Standards, students are supported to become outstanding school and community citizens via our character education program.

Our doors open at 8:05 a.m. for all students. Students participating in the breakfast program should get their breakfast in the cafeteria prior to reporting to their classrooms for homeroom, which lasts until 8:15 a.m. There is no supervision in school before 8:05 a.m. for those who are not directly part of the Colonie Youth Center’s Before/After School Program. Sign out for dismissal begins at 2:30 p.m in the cafeteria.  Students are called to meet their families here and dismissed through the rear exit of the cafeteria beginning at 2:40 p.m. Students being picked up must be signed out prior to 2:40 p.m. Walkers are also dismissed at 2:40 p.m. Bus dismissal immediately follows.
