Town of Colonie Celebrates one of its “Titans” – Jan. 31 is D. Joseph Corr Day

After 50 years in education and several months of well-wishes and send offs by colleagues, community members, former students, and many more – Jan. 31 marks D. Joseph Corr’s last day as North Colonie’s superintendent.

It also marks D. Joseph Corr Day in the Town of Colonie. Yes, that’s right. Not only is Mr. Corr a respected educator, but he’s now officially a part of history in Colonie.

Town of Colonie Supervisor Peter Crummey announced the proclamation at a retirement event for Mr. Corr held earlier this month at Siena College. “He’s one of Colonie’s titans,” said Crummey during his remarks to the large crowd.

Mr. Corr also received a proclamation in honor of his retirement from Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy.

“Colonie has been a huge part of my life for several decades,” said Mr. Corr. “This is a tremendous honor and something I will remember for the rest of my life.”
