South Korean Delegation Visits SHS

Earlier this week, the International Center of the Capital Region (ICCR) hosted a delegation from South Korea and brought the group to meet with Shaker High School’s (SHS) Foreign Policy for Seniors class.

ICCR connects the Capital Region to the world through citizen diplomacy by hosting programs with foreign visitors and events that help establish relationships across borders and cultures. Last school year ICCR brought delegates from the nation of Moldova to Shaker High School.  Read more about the visit here.

Congrats Bella Miller: November NC Kids Care Honoree

Our November NC Kids Care recipient, Bella Miller, was recognized by the Board of Education  during its Nov. 21 meeting.

And it was for a “Dino-rific” reason. The SHS senior spent a lot of time this past summer with Mrs. Eick’s self-contained class in the extended school year program held at Shaker Middle School. But one day of her work, in particular, caught several adults’ attention. Click here to read more about Bella.

Our Counselors: Working to Maximize Students’ Potential

Several of our K-12 School Counselors had the opportunity to attend the annual New York State School Counselor Association (NYSSCA) Conference Nov. 17-19.

This was an excellent opportunity for them to connect with fellow school counselors in the state,” said Tricia Doyle, Director of Counseling and Mental Health Services, “and further develop the skills that allow them to continually evolve our comprehensive school counseling program to help NCCS students maximize their potential.”
