Overview

All PTA meetings begin at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. PTA is a national not-for-profit association. It is open to anyone who cares about children and schools. At the state and national levels, volunteers advocate for our children and our schools.

The Forts Ferry PTA provides a wide variety of activities that benefit our children throughout the school year. They work to provide programs that enrich our children’s lives and promote the family-educator connection.

Membership Information

All memberships give you the same access with the choice of how much you would like to contribute to the PTA each month. There are three different memberships, the Standard for $10 a month, the Silver for $20 a month, and the Gold for $30 a month. All PTA members receive a school directory in November. Memberships can purchased here.

The Forts Ferry PTA has their own PTA-run website, which is used for credit card payments, surveys, last minute event announcements, etc.

Special Education PTA

The North Colonie Special Education PTA was chartered in January 2008 with 31 members. The North Colonie Special Education PTA is the first of its kind in the Capital Region and serves special education and gifted students in grades K–12. New members are welcome to join by attending meetings or by contacting the president, Mary Alber.

Special Education services are administered by Pupil Services. If you have a child that receives services from the District pursuant to an IEP or 504 Plan, then join us for an opportunity to meet the members of Pupil Services. This is an opportunity to meet the District administrators that oversee the programs and get an overview of the process. We will review:

• Who are these administrators and what is their role for your child?
• What happens if I think my child needs special education services?
• What are the steps, if I feel an existing plan is not working or there is a problem?
