1721, Student Teaching and Internships

The Board of Education recognizes that professionals in the field of education have an obligation to assist in the preparation of future teachers through participation in a planned program of supervised student teaching.

In general, the cooperating teacher shall have had a minimum of three years of teaching experience and be tenured in this district.

Teachers who would like to work with a student teacher shall notify their Building Principal and/or the department supervisor. The date when such requests must be filed shall be determined by the Building Principal and/or department supervisor. Student teachers shall be assigned only to teachers who, in the opinion of the Building Principal and/or the department supervisor, are of such caliber as to ensure the student teacher the likelihood of a profitable experience.

In general, cooperating teachers shall have no more than one student teacher per year.

The cooperating teacher shall be consulted prior to the assignment of a student teacher and shall have the option of accepting or refusing a student teacher.
