On Tuesday, May 19, North Colonie residents approved the district’s $164.6 million budget for 2026-27 with 1,103 yes votes to 355 no votes.
Results were announced at the North Colonie Central Office shortly after the polls closed at 9 p.m. The results show 75.65% of voters supported the budget.
The $164.6 million budget has a tax levy increase of 3.90 percent, below the allowable tax cap. The district will set its final tax rate for the 2026-27 school year in August, based on final assessment figures as provided by the Town of Colonie.
“We thank our North Colonie community for their support with our 2026-27 budget,” said North Colonie Superintendent Kathleen Skeals. “I am grateful to everyone who has worked so hard to create a fiscally responsible budget, while balancing the needs of our students. Through their efforts, this budget allows us to maintain all of our current programs, while adding seven programs at no cost to the district.”
Board of Education
In the Board of Education election, four candidates were seeking two, five-year terms. Dr. Nicholas P. Comproski was re-elected to his seat, winning 59.70% of the vote over his opponent, Jessica Morelli-Edmonds, who garnered 40.30% of the vote. Janet Appe was elected to the vacant seat of Mary Nardolillo, winning 57.99% of the vote against Sean Martin, who captured 42.01% of the vote.
