Dear North Colonie Community,
Today was my last day as Superintendent of the North Colonie Central School District, and I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for the privilege of serving as your school superintendent for the past 12 years and for 41 years as a teacher and administrator.
Since September 1981, I have had the opportunity to work alongside incredibly dedicated and talented educators, staff members, and community leaders, all working towards the common goal of providing the best education possible for our students. The passion and commitment demonstrated by all in this collective endeavor has been truly inspiring, and I am proud to have been a part of this community.
I have been blessed by colleagues, students, families, and friends, and am filled with gratitude for all the support I have received. It has been an honor to have served this wonderful community and for such grace I offer boundless and never ending thanks. I will miss each and every one of you.
Serving the past 12 years as your Superintendent has been the high point of my career. I will dearly miss the joy and satisfaction of working collaboratively with my colleagues and the school community in the essential endeavor of educating our students. This commitment to educating the children of our community is fundamental to a free and democratic nation, and I have been graced by the opportunity to work with you in this noblest of callings.
Most importantly, I have an enduring faith in the future of North Colonie. Clearly, the best is yet to come! Superintendent Kathleen Skeals is an unparalleled educational leader who forged her craft as a master North Colonie teacher. Superintendent Skeals’ commitment to the dignity of each and every child and the power of education to positively transform lives will pave the way for a new and even greater era in the history of North Colonie.
Supporting the work of Superintendent Skeals and our school community will be a dedicated and knowledgeable Board of Education lead by President Linda Harrison. Both Superintendent Skeals and President Harrison are inspirational educational leaders with an unwavering commitment to the power of teaching and learning public education. Most assuredly, North Colonie is positioned for even greater success!
I leave North Colonie filled with gratitude. Thank you North Colonie for this lifetime gift of the opportunity to serve.
