SCHOOL STARTS IN 45 DAYS

Summer is flying by! Remember that there are some logistical changes this year. Our teachers will have all of their professional development days the first week in September, so school for all K through 12 students will start on Monday, September 12.

Please also note that all of our elementary schools will shift to the same schedule, with the elementary school day running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The middle school schedule will shift from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the high school schedule will be from 7:10 a.m. to 2:06 p.m.

🌞 SUMMER NEWS 🌞

NORTH COLONIE’S SUMMER CAMPS KEEP STUDENTS CONNECTED AND ENGAGED

For the second year, the district is offering free Summer Engagement Camps that allow students to engage with fellow students and have fun while learning something new. The programming as the result of a federal funding stream to help with expenses related to COVID-19. Last year the camps were geared toward secondary and high school students. They were such a success that the offerings were expanded this year to include K-5 students. A total of 43 camps are running at three locations – Forts Ferry Elementary, Latham Ridge Elementary, and Shaker Middle School.

SHS STUDENT ANABELLE VASQUEZ HONORED IN D.C.

Shaker High School junior Anabelle Vasquez was honored in Washington, D.C. recently as winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition in the 20th District of New York.

Anabelle’s artwork was chosen from among 24 student submissions representing nine high schools across the 20th congressional district. The winners from across the United States, in each district, were invited to the U.S. Capitol for a breakfast reception, Capitol tour, and a program led by members of Congress and key staff. Anabelle’s colored pencil drawing titled “Scopophobia” will hang in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year.
