BLUE CREEK FIFTH-GRADER NAMED NORTH COLONIE KIDS CARE RECIPIENT

It was a spring afternoon and Domenico “Nico” Clermont, a fifth-grade student at Blue Creek Elementary, his brother Alessio, and some friends were out riding their bikes. Suddenly things took a frightening turn. Alessio, a Shaker Middle School student, fell off his bike. He hit his head on the pavement and was knocked unconscious. Nico sprang into action. He’s North Colonie’s Kids Care recipient for May. Read more here.

NC RECOGNIZES EMPLOYEES FOR YEARS OF SERVICE

North Colonie CSD celebrated its employees at recognition event held yesterday. ⭐Congrats to those with 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, AND 55 years of service! ⭐ Click here for our Employee Recognition Honorees 2022.

SHS ICE CREAM SOCIAL A HUGE SUCCESS 

Mrs. Julie Torre and her Special Class students hosted an Ice Cream Social in the SHS Garden Courtyard earlier this month. They planned the gathering by handing out invitations to peers, shopping at the supermarket for ice cream, and organizing activities as part of their Functional Life Skills curriculum. Athletes, Best Buddies, and others joined the fun!

 

NC STUDENT ARTWORK FEATURED IN BOCES 🎨 ART SHOW

The creativity of hundreds of area students is on full display online in the 33rd Annual BOCES Art Show. The show features nearly 200 works in various mediums created by students in kindergarten through high school from seven participating school districts – including North Colonie. ENGINEERING CAPSTONE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN COMPETITION AT SIENA COLLEGE

The Shaker High School Engineering Capstone students competed in a Startup / Business Plan Competition at Siena College. The students gave a detailed presentation on their company business plan and the prototype of their engineering idea. Our future engineers did an outstanding job and impressed the Panel Judges during the competition. 

 

SHS STUDENTS PRESENT ARCHITECTURE DESIGNS

The Shaker High School Architecture 2 students presented their Architecture designs at CSArch in Albany. The students developed a portfolio, CAD drawings, scaled model and presentation. Each group defended their design ideas and presented in front of multiple Architects. The Architects at CSArch provided feedback to each team and were very impressed with the students’ projects and professionalism.

Colonie Library 📚 Summer Newsletter

Our friends at the Colonie Library have published their summer newsletter and it is chock full of events. Check it out here. Their Summer Reading Challenge is back in full swing with lots of in-person events and prizes for all ages.

First Annual Athletic Fair for 5 & 6th Graders – June 14

The Shaker High School Athletic Department is proud to host our first annual Shaker Athletics Fair on Tuesday, June 14 from 5:30-7 p.m.  The fair is for all current students and family members of 5th and 6th grade students. The evening will consist of games, giveaways, tours, and information on all aspects of our athletic program. Every athletic program at Shaker will have a representative available to answer questions. Click here for more information and for a Google registration form.
