The Weekly Boost Feb. 11: your North Colonie newsletter

Dear North Colonie Families:

February is Black History Month. During this month, the United States honors the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who have helped shape the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are an important part of our nation’s history. Please read more of my message about Black History Month here.

Test Kits

Early next week, we will distribute a COVID-19 test kit to each student to bring home. Parents are strongly encouraged to test their child(ren) for COVID on either Saturday, Feb. 26 or Sunday, Feb. 27, prior to students returning to school on Monday, Feb. 28. Thank you for your continued support with protecting the health and safety of our students and staff.

Good News

Outstanding Community Support: After learning that the Shaker Middle School Backpack Program was running low on supplies, the Colonie Police and EMS Departments, Town Supervisor Peter Crummey and many others stepped up to help. Earlier this week, some first responders dropped off supplies filling an entire ambulance and multiple police cars to Shaker Middle School’s food pantry. Thank you!

Here’s a brief video of Aayan talking about his experience.
