Shaker Middle School 8th grader Whitney Belvedere will be recognized by the Board of Education Monday as the NC Kids Care honoree for March.
Whitney is one of many students in North Colonie CSD that has epilepsy. She was recently selected to be the face and voice to educate our highest elected officials about epilepsy by the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY. She went to Capitol Hill in February and lobbied on behalf of the organization. Her recognition as the NC Kids Care also brings awareness to World Epilepsy Day which is Sunday, March 26.
We look forward to hearing from Whitney herself when she is honored by the BOE at 7:15 p.m. March 27.
