4900, Bomb Threats

When a “bomb call” is received, the Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools and the Police Department shall be notified
immediately. The principal, in conjunction with the Colonie Police and Superintendent, will use his/her judgement as to subsequent procedures, following
the New York State Education Department Bomb Threat Response Guidelines.

Each principal will be responsible for drawing up plans for appropriate procedures including a search, utilizing district staff and other such personnel as it
may be deemed necessary under the particular circumstances.

Secretaries, receptionists and others customarily taking incoming calls will be instructed to make written notation concerning the time of any such calls, together
with any other information such as exact wording of call, type of voice and any other pertinent information. An attempt should be made to engage such a caller in conversation as long as possible.
