2320, Special Meetings

Special meetings of the Board of Education may be held at the call of the President or any other Board member.

All members of the Board must be given at least twenty-four (24) hours’ notice of such special meeting. The notice shall specify the time, place and purpose of the special meeting and, where appropriate, shall include an accompanying memorandum to include details of the subject(s) to be considered.

In an emergency, the 24-hour notice may be waived by unanimous consent of all Board members. In such a case, members shall sign waiver-of-notice forms and a statement that this has occurred should be entered in the minutes.

If a special meeting is scheduled at least a week in advance, the Open Meetings Law requires that notice of the time and place of the meeting be given to the public and the news media at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. If the special meeting is scheduled less than a week in advance, then notice must be given to the extent practicable.

Each special meeting shall be limited to the business announced in the notice of that meeting, unless the notice itself specifies otherwise.

Appropriate minutes shall be kept.
