About Shaker Athletics

All-Sport Booster Club | Athletics Placement Procedure | Registration | CPR for the Professional Rescuer Course | Lifeguard Review Course

The North Colonie Central School District takes great pride in its athletic programs for all grade levels. We believe that participation in athletics enhances the scholastic experience, as students learn how to work together and the values of sportsmanship.

Shaker High School is a member of the NYS Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), competing as a Class A/AA school in Section 2. Our league affiliation is with the Suburban Scholastic Council. There are 29 Varsity level sport offerings including 15 levels for boys, and 14 levels for girls.

Shaker High School offers more than 80 levels (Modified, Frosh, J.V., Varsity) of interscholastic competition for our students in grades 7-12.

We believe that participation in sports provides a wealth of opportunities and experiences which assist students in their secondary education. Interscholastic athletics serve as a miniature model of life, providing opportunities for students with regard to responsibility, fair play, cooperation, concern for others, leadership, respect for coaches and all authority figures, good citizenship, loyalty, and tolerance.

Athletics Placement Procedure

The Athletic Placement Process (APP) is the process in which middle school athletes can compete at the high school level. The APP invitation must come from the program head coach.  It will require passing a fitness test, a coaches evaluation and clearance from the district medical examiner.

Specific questions regarding the Athletics Placement Procedure (APP) can be sent to Greg Sheeler.

FamilyID/Athletics Registration

North Colonie Central School District now offers the convenience of FamilyID, a secure online platform that provides an easy, user-friendly way to register student-athletes for our athletic programs. When you register through FamilyID the system keeps track of your information in a personal profile, so most of the information only needs to be entered once for each family member and can be used for multiple programs.
