Shaker High School has a new principal - and the first female to hold the position. On Wednesday, August 12, Mrs. Crystal Fox will assume the role of principal at SHS, replacing Mr. Marcus Puccioni. Her appointment will be approved by the Board of Education at a special meeting on Monday, August 10.

Mrs. Fox is no stranger to the North Colonie community, as she has spent 17 years with the district, most recently as Assistant Director of Pupil Services. Mrs. Fox has experience in a number of roles in the district, starting as the Special Education Supervisor at SHS when she first started back in 2009. She also spent time as the Lafollette Hall Principal and this past school year, stepped in to assist the high school administration.

"Mrs. Fox’s wealth of experience in both special education and with the high school in particular, make her a natural choice to assume the role of principal," said North Colonie Superintendent Kathleen Skeals. “I have the utmost confidence that Mrs. Fox will be an incredible leader of students, as well as faculty and staff members for Shaker High School.”

“I am incredibly honored and excited to serve as the next Building Principal at Shaker High School,” said Mrs. Fox. “Having served in this district since 2009 as a dean, hall principal, and Pupil Services administrator, I am grateful for the relationships and experiences that have shaped my journey. Going forward, what excites me most is the opportunity to continue working alongside our exceptional students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.”

In the 17 years she has spent with the district, Mrs. Fox clearly has left a positive impact on Shaker students and the community. This evidenced in how just this past school year, SHS students chose to dedicate their yearbook to Mrs. Fox, thanking her for all she has done for them and the school.

Mrs. Fox has enjoyed her time with North Colonie and is ready to embark on her next chapter as principal.
