Dozens of students from across the district were honored as part of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center's (SPAC) Festival of Young Artists this year. 16 artists, including one from Shaker Middle School, had selected works in the visual arts.
Following her recognition as the inaugural winner of the New York State Poetry Prize, Shaker sophomore Sima Amiri also won the Outstanding Artist award in the literary art category. 15 other Shaker High School students had works selected in the literary arts as well.
Finally, eighth graders Lilliana Kent and MacKayla McAdoo were part of the Capital District Arts Initiative group to take home the Outstanding Artist award in performing arts with their submission of Epilogue. They were joined in the group by students from other area school districts. The Festival of Young Artists takes place on Sunday, May 31 at SPAC.
