This November, the Mathematics Department at Shaker High School administered the American Mathematics Competition 10/12 exams. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are the nation’s leading mathematics competitions for high schoolers designed to cultivate the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers.

Shaker Middle School 8th grade student, Claire Qiu was the top scorer on the AMC 10 exam and 10th grade SHS student, Gianna Zhang, was the top scorer on the AMC 12 exam. We had four students move on and qualify for the American Invitational Mathematics Exam. The students were Claire Qiu (8th), Gianna Zhang (10th), Samuel Lin (11th) and Everitt Li (12th). These students scored in the top 2.5% nationally of all the participants who took the exam. This is a wonderful achievement and we look forward to our students' continued success.
