Students watching graduation

Nothing could stop these grads — not even the heat!

Shaker Middle School held their 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony for the Class of 2029 on Wednesday, June 26. The event began with SMS Principal Davis Chamberlain offering opening remarks about the success of the class before him. Chamberlain then recognized student successes during their time at SMS, asking them to stand if they have received honor/ merit roll or student of the month; participated in sports, music, theater, arts, accelerated coursework, and clubs; or were "Caught being a Bison." Students and the crowd around them laughed, as all students ended up standing for the last recognition.

Following the recognitions, SMS student Nandi Htwe offered remarks and words of encouragement to the students before her. Almost 500 students were then presented at the front of the gym to have their names called. To conclude the event, Hall Awards were then given to the recognized students.

Congratulations to the Class of 2029!
