Dear North Colonie Families,
This is an update regarding the emergency dismissal of Shaker High School after a bullet was found on the floor in the hallway of the building this morning.
We want to make clear, at no time was there ever a direct threat. The item of concern was found, and we acted in an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff. In cooperation with multiple police agencies, including NY State Police, Troy Police, Albany County Sheriffs, and K-9 units came through to thoroughly search the entire building.
The search has been completed, and we are now open and clear for after school activities and athletic events. If there are any sport specific changes or cancellations, it will come directly from your child’s coach.
At all times, the safety of our community is our primary concern. Thank you for your understanding regarding the disruption of today’s high school classes; the emergency dismissal was necessary to ensure the safety of all.
