Superintendent’s Conference Day to take place Friday, March 13

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to provide you with updates about COVID-19 and our district plans. As of today, Thursday, March 12, the North Colonie Central School District does not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19.

We have made the decision that tomorrow, Friday, March 13 will be a Superintendent’s Conference Day and there will be no school for students. We will be using this day to develop a collection of online resources in the event that the district or a school needs to close for a period of time. As of right now, there are no plans to close the district or a school. Many schools in the area are also holding a Superintendent’s Conference Day tomorrow for their employees to develop a collection of resources.

Typically, North Colonie hosts four Superintendent’s Conference Days a year, two in September, one in November and one in March. This year, due to construction, we decided to hold all four days in September to ensure that our construction team would have the time needed to open the buildings. The use of this March day will be counted as an unused snow day. This decision will not extend the school year, as we have not used our allotted snow days.

This decision was not made lightly, and we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but we have determined this is the best course of action for the district to be prepared to support our students and families in the event that a closure is required.

Sincerely,

Joseph Corr
Superintendent
