Statement regarding fire at Shaker High School on Tuesday, Aug. 4

At approximately 8 a.m. today, Tuesday, August 4, the district was alerted to a fire in the J wing of Shaker High School. No students or faculty were in the building at the time. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The fire has been fully extinguished and the damage was contained to two classrooms. We would like to thank our local fire departments from the Town of Colonie as well as Colonie Police Department and Emergency Services for their quick response. We will work with those agencies to determine the cause of the fire and assess the damage to the building. We will provide updates as appropriate.
