Twelve Shaker High School students recently competed in the National Shakespeare Competition school-level contest. Each student had to memorize and recite a Shakespearean monologue.

Junior Maya Terry won the competition, with her classmate Sophie Dvorak placing second. Next, Maya will move on to the local competition at the Albany Branch of the English Speaking Union on March 14, where she will recite a monologue and a sonnet. From there, judges will select a winner to travel to New York City to compete in April.

Best of luck, Maya!
