SHS Art and English students win national awards

Shaker High School Art and English students are being recognized by the National Scholastics Art Awards and National Scholastic Writing Contest.

Two Shaker High School students were recognized for the national writing contest. Lauren Zhu, a junior, won an Honorable Mention for her poem “mockingbird baby” and a Silver Key for her poem “Prodigy.” Harry Shen, also a junior, won an Honorable Mention for his piece “A Stich in Time Saves None,” a personal narrative about his internship experience.

Both Lauren and Harry are Writing Consultants for the Shaker Writing Center.

The Shaker High School Art & Design Department also had 14 students win a total of 25 awards at the National Scholastic Art Awards.
