North Colonie to change COVID-19 contract tracing communication to families

In order to streamline our COVID-19 contact tracing efforts, we are making some changes to the way we communicate with families when their child(ren) have had a direct exposure to COVID-19.

As you may know, our principals and nursing staff have been calling and emailing families of students who have had a direct COVID-19 exposure while in school or on a bus to provide families with quarantine information.

What’s Changing

Effective Monday, Dec. 27, we will be emailing families this information. The district will no longer be making calls but will continue notifying families if their child was a direct contact of a positive case.

The notification email will contain all the pertinent information regarding quarantine and instructional support. We will also send text messages to alert families to check their email. (Note: You must be opted in to receive text messages – see below).

Infinite Campus

All guardians of students in Infinite Campus can receive emails from School Messenger as long as we have the correct email address. This email was sent to the email address we have on file for you.

Parents can log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to update/change their email address as well as their cell phone for text messages.

To update your email address and phone numbers, please watch this video.

Text Messages

Parents need to opt-in to text messaging by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 if they haven’t done so already.

If you need help with your Parent Portal account, email InformationServices@ncolonie.org.

Please know that you will always have the opportunity to speak to your child’s school principal or a staff member with questions or concerns.
