Southgate Elementary Students Plant Butterfly Garden at Goodrich

As a part of the second grade writing curriculum Southgate Elementary students learned how to compose advocacy letters. They advocated for the continued funding of the butterfly garden at the Central Office to promote conservation and repopulation of the monarch butterflies in our area. This project began as a part of the remote school and was planted last summer by the English language learners enrolled in the summer program. Mrs. Dennis and Mrs. Ditzel’s classes visited and planted flowers earlier this week.

Blue Creek Students Practice Communication Skills

The Blue Creek communications self-contained classrooms are practicing ordering from an ice-cream truck/ice-cream stand so that they can better participate in these experiences in their communities with their families. Many of the students in this program are learning to communicate their needs and requests with an iPad application and/or their verbal language. Students will work on communicating choices and waiting in line. The school has an ice-cream truck set and has guest workers at our stand. The “truck” had its first stop today!
