Member of the 4-6 intermediate school tests positive for COVID-19

Dear North Colonie Community,

The North Colonie Central School District was made aware today, Tuesday, Oct. 20, that a member of the 4-6 intermediate school has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in the junior high school building on Friday, Oct. 9. The individual who tested positive has been placed in isolation and will not return to the school environment until they are cleared by the health department.

We are working with the Albany County Department of Health. Again, the individual has not been on campus since Oct. 9, and they were not around anyone on campus during the time in which they were infectious. The Department of Health will conduct contact tracing for anyone this individual was in contact with outside of school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information regarding positive cases or mandatory quarantine.

As always, if you feel sick or have any symptoms, you are asked to stay home. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school principal.

Sincerely,

D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
