Individual in 4-6 intermediate program at SJHS tests positive for COVID-19

Dear North Colonie Community,

The North Colonie Central School District confirmed today, Friday, Nov. 20, that an individual associated with the Southgate 4-6 intermediate school program in the junior high school building has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in school on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

We have been in contact with the Albany County Health Department and identified the individual’s close contacts in the school community. Anyone who has been in close contact with this individual was directly contacted by a school administrator this afternoon to discuss quarantine procedures and other health-related instructions. A call from the New York State Department of Health contact tracers will follow.

As a reminder, each of our school buildings are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected each evening in accordance with guidance from the CDC and the New York State Department of Health.

We continue to work closely with the Albany County Health Department and follow their guidance each time our district has a positive case.

Please reach out to your child’s principal if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
