Hoops, Horns Up … Interacting with Art!

Thanks to the initiative of two Shaker High School teachers and support from our transportation team, a group of students had a terrific weekend field trip experience!

Teachers Carrie Lue and Elizabeth Schanz took students to an outdoor sculpture park in Ghent.

Nothing but net! Students got their art game on during a visit to Art Omi in the Hudson Valley.

Art Omi is situated on 120 acres in the Hudson Valley and presents the works of contemporary artists and architects, and offers a range of large-scale works in nature, plus a 1,500 square foot gallery. You can learn more about this Hudson Valley treasure here.

“It was wonderful that these teachers initiated this opportunity for our students on a weekend, exposing them to a wonderful gem of a place,” said Anne Mineau Manzella, district supervisor of visual & Media arts. “The outdoor excursion was good for the soul of everyone in attendance and is something to celebrate.”
