Extended School Year program employee tests positive for COVID-19, program canceled Aug. 3; Food Services pick up to take place at Watervliet Aug. 3

Dear Parents/Guardians of students in the North Colonie ESY program,

We were informed today that an employee in the Extended School Year program has tested positive for COVID-19. We are currently working closely with the Albany County Department of Health to identify the employee’s contacts at the school. The Albany County Department of Health is conducting a case investigation and will reach out to all contacts and advise on the need to quarantine and to arrange testing of those exposed.

In an abundance of caution and need for deep cleaning, we are closing Shaker High School and the extended year program for tomorrow (Monday, Aug. 3). We will keep you up to date as more information becomes available.

It is important to note that the impacted employee does not work in the Food Services department.

As a result, the Food Service program at Shaker High School has been canceled tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 3. If you are in need of food, it will be available for pick up at the Watervliet Elementary School (2557 10th Ave #1, Watervliet, NY 12189) from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. If you receive your food via delivery, it will still be delivered to you.

Individuals can also visit the United Way website or call 211 and they will direct you to agencies that support feeding those in need.

Thank you.

D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
