Routing Information

Specific routing information is mailed to each family at the end of August. For further information regarding your child’s route, please call our office at 518-785-9486, ext. 0.

School Closings and Delays

When North Colonie is forced to close or delay schools or to dismiss students early due to inclement weather or other emergency conditions, information is posted on the district homepage. Parents will also be notified via email and text message on SchoolMessenger.

Meeting your Student at the Bus Stop

Students in kindergarten are required to be met at the bus stop. Please complete this form to indicate who may meet your child at the bus stop if you are not there. Students in grades 1-6 are not required to be met, but if someone does meet the bus on a regular basis, please indicate who may meet your child if you are not there. If we do not have an authorized person to take your child, they will be returned to the school.

Kindergarten students/siblings: Use this same form to authorize your kindergarten child to go home with an older sibling, so that you do not need to be present at the bus stop. Please note that if the older sibling is not on the bus, you must meet your child at the bus stop.

Childcare

Parents or Guardians of children that are to be dropped off or picked up at a location other than home must complete and return a “Transportation to Other Than Home Address” form. This form is due every year by April 1, before the start of the next school year. If we do not receive this form, the home address becomes the default pick up and drop-off location. Requests for childcare transportation made after April 1 cannot be guaranteed. Transportation to a location outside of your child’s school attendance area will only be filled if it can be accomplished through the existing bus routing structure. Requests for childcare transportation received during the school year may take up to 5 business days to process.

Transportation to locations other than home addresses follow the same guidelines as regular school transportation. It is the responsibility of the daycare provider to insure safe travel of the student(s) to and/or from the bus stop.

Non-Public School Information

North Colonie provides transportation to students in our district who wish to go to private schools, within the guidelines indicated on our request form.
