Fall Family Festival is just hours away! Join us tonight from 5-7 p.m. at the Shaker High School inner courtyard for fall related fun, crafts, music, art and more!

Earlier this week, Blue Creek kicked off the fall festivities with the Inaugural Apple Festival & Cookout! It included plenty of food, fun and fall related activities just outside of the Blue Creek Garden and Apple Orchard. Thank you to everyone who came out for the event! We hope to see you at SHS tonight!

With cooler weather and falling leaves, it’s officially apple season! On Wednesday, the Blue Creek community joined together for the NYS Big Apple Crunch. Students and staff paused for a moment of silence before taking a big, synchronized bite into their apples, then enjoyed their crisp fall snack outside in the beautiful autumn weather.

As Safety/Security Monitors in the North Colonie Central School District, Chris Bober and Dewayne Crawford have quickly become familiar names and faces throughout the district. Mr. Bober, who is stationed primarily at Shaker Middle School, has worked for North Colonie since December 2024. Mr. Crawford, who is stationed at Shaker High School, was hired this past summer. During their tenure with the district so far, the duo has enjoyed becoming familiar with their schools, students, and community. Though they are stationed at different schools, they are in constant communication with each other. They are also in agreement on one very important thing - they love the work and supporting the district in any way they can.

“At the end of the day, we're a resource for the district,” added Mr. Bober. “If anybody ever has any question or anything … reach out to us. We’re here to help everybody, not just at the high school and middle school.”

We had a great time today connecting with members of New York State Education Department (NYSED) at Shaker High School today! Joining us were Chief Information Officer Michael St. John and Director of Human Resources Anne Fiscarelli. During their visit, they toured the Shaker gardens, learned about Freshman Seminar, sat in on a Latin class, and visited a few other classrooms to learn more about our district.

The 2025-26 school year kicked off with more than just a welcome, it began with looking back at 75 years of North Colonie. Board of Education President Linda Harrison and Superintendent Kathleen Skeals shared a message with faculty that tied today’s excitement to the district’s roots. When North Colonie grew from 12 small districts into the larger school community we know today. Closing her remarks, Superintendent Skeals shared: “I think our founders would be proud. I know I am.”

The welcome was followed by a performance of “Glorious” by SHS seniors Grace and Jackson Majewski, accompanied by music teacher Amy Kimbler. Staff then broke into groups for additional first-day preparations.

We’re counting down to the #nccsdfirstday and can’t wait to see our students on Thursday, Sept. 4!
