After six years serving as the School Resource Officer, Officer Brianna Pierce is completing her time with the North Colonie Central School District at the end of the school year. Throughout her time here, Officer Pierce has been an invaluable resource to our students, staff and community not only during the school day, but at athletic and school events. From directing traffic during arrival and dismissal times at Shaker High School and Shaker Middle School, to conducting security checks on school buildings and helping students and staff with any issues that arise… Officer Pierce has done it all. And despite graduating from Colonie High School, Officer Pierce has become a part of the fabric in North Colonie.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here in North Colonie,” said Officer Pierce. “It has been the highlight of my career so far and I’m grateful for the relationships I have formed with students, staff, and families. I’d like to thank the district for its continued support and for always making me feel like a welcome member of the team. It’s always a great day to be a Bison and I will always consider myself a Bison. The district is in great hands with Officer Chris Van Alstyne.”
Officer Pierce will be transitioning roles within the Community Services Unit to become a Community Services Officer. North Colonie is excited to announce that Officer Chris Van Alstyne will be assuming the role of School Resource Officer. A Clifton Park native and Shenendehowa graduate, Van Alstyne has spent the last seven years as a patrolman with the Colonie Police Department.
“I’m excited for this new opportunity in my career,” said Officer Van Alstyne. “I look forward to expanding on the work that Officer Pierce has accomplished and forming relationships with the students and staff here in North Colonie. The Colonie Police Department and North Colonie have established a strong partnership and I’m honored to carry that forward. My door is always open for any and all assistance I can provide and I look forward to the upcoming school year.”
Congratulations Officer Pierce and thank you for your service to the district. Welcome Officer Van Alstyne. We are happy to have you join our district!
