Two individuals in school community test positive for COVID-19

| December 9, 2020

Dear North Colonie Community,

The North Colonie Central School District has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 in our school community. The cases include:

  • An individual associated with the K-3 Southgate school community who was last in the building on Thursday, Dec. 3.
  • An individual associated with the grades 7-8 remote learning program who has not been in any of our school buildings at all this school year.

We have been in contact with the Albany County Department of Health and identified the Southgate individual’s close contacts in the school community. Anyone who has been in close contact with the Southgate individual has been directly contacted by a school administrator to discuss quarantine procedures and other health-related instructions. A call from the New York State Department of Health contact tracers will follow.

Anyone who has been in close contact with the grades 7-8 individual outside of school will be directly contacted by the local health department to discuss how long/if they should quarantine and other health-related instructions.

We continue to work closely with the Albany County Health Department and follow their guidance each time our district has a positive case.

Please reach out to your child’s principal if you have any questions.

D. Joseph Corr
