Students, administrators get first hand look at new SJHS wing

students and administrators are taken on a construction tour of the new sjhs wingStudent journalists and members of the North Colonie administration got a first hand look at the new wing of the Shaker Junior High School currently under construction. The new wing, which broke ground in May, will house SJHS students beginning in September as renovations begin on the main part of the building.

The entire project is expected to be completed for the transformation into Shaker Middle School for September 2020.

Students got to see the framing for classrooms, bathrooms, and hallways on the first floor, and asked questions about drinking fountains, locker configuration, and heating. A video of part of the walkthrough can be seen here.

Joseph Corr said that he is excited about the new addition and the opportunities it will mean for North Colonie students, along with praising the contractors for the work they’ve put in over the past nine months.
