Southgate students celebrate International Peace Day

Southgate students celebrate Peace Day.
In 2002, the United Nations officially declared September 21 as the International Day of Peace. Each year, this day is observed around the world. By creating this day, the United Nations hopes that nations and people worldwide will work together for the common goal of peace.
The theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace, Respect, Safety and Dignity.”
To honor this day, the students at Southgate worked with their buddy classes to create pinwheels for peace. Each class at Southgate paired with a different grade level class, with each student in the school having a buddy (or occasionally two buddies).
After students worked together to create colorful pinwheels, they walked outside to place them in the front lawn to visually represent our support for this day.
