Southgate Buddies Create Thanksgiving Cards for Equinox
On Thursday, November 1, Southgate classes paired off with their buddy classes to create colorful Thanksgiving cards for adults and children having Thanksgiving dinner at Equinox. The cards, with the warm sentiments of our students, will be at the dinner tables. Along with this, Southgate is collecting individual applesauce and fruit cups to also be served at the dinner. Donations will be accepted through November 15. Our goal is to provide 500 individual servings of fruit and applesauce for the Equinox dinner.
More than 45 years ago, a small group of community and religious leaders, students, and social workers held a Thanksgiving dinner for 200 college students who were not going home for the holiday and would have been alone. This marked the beginning of the Capital District’s largest and longest-running holiday tradition. Last year, the Annual Equinox Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner served over 10,000 of our neighbors.
