Six individuals in school community test positive for COVID-19

| December 10, 2020

Dear North Colonie Community,

The North Colonie Central School District has confirmed six new cases of COVID-19 in our school community. The cases include:

  • Two individuals associated with the 7-8 program at Shaker High School who were last in the building on Tuesday, Nov. 24. There are no school contacts related to these cases.
  • Three individuals associated with the 9-12 program at Shaker High School who were last in the building on Tuesday, Nov. 24. There are no school contacts related to these cases.
  • An individual associated with the Blue Creek 4-6 intermediate program at the junior high school who was last in the building on Friday, Dec. 4.

We have been in contact with the Albany County Department of Health and identified the Blue Creek individual’s close contacts in the school community. Anyone who has been in close contact with the Blue Creek individual has been directly contacted by a school administrator to discuss quarantine procedures and other health-related instructions. A call from the New York State Department of Health contact tracers will follow.

We continue to work closely with the Albany County Health Department and follow their guidance each time our district has a positive case.

As a reminder, the district has transitioned to fully remote instruction through Thursday, Dec. 17. However, students in full-day special education self-contained programs resumed in-person instruction today. Accordingly, you may have seen school buses on the road today transporting these students to school.

Please reach out to your child’s principal if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
