SHS senior Varun Mondaiyka receives Volunteer of the Year Award

Shaker High School senior Varun Mondaiyka was recently named a Volunteer of the Year by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. Varun was among 24 individuals awarded at the Ignite Volunteer Festival on Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Albany Cap Center. 

More than 45 non-profit organizations that are making a big difference in communities in and around Capital Region gathered at the festival to share their mission. While celebrating the achievements of the past year, Varun was awarded for his work in the field of Literacy, Culture and Art. He was nominated by the non-profit organization he is involved with, WithOurVoice, Inc.

The awards were hosted by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Brian Cody of WGNA and Heather Kovar from WRGB CBS 6 News.
