The two Shaker High School classrooms that have been closed since April 4 will re-open to students and staff on Monday. Work to remediate the minor asbestos disturbance discovered in the window soffits in the classrooms was completed over the April school vacation week. The affected areas were remediated in accordance with state and federal regulations and final air sampling was completed on Thursday April 20. Results of the air samples were “negative,” showing no asbestos containing materials in the air. CT Male Associates turned the rooms over to the district on April 21, and gave the all clear for regular use beginning Monday, April 24.
