Shaker High School will celebrate Blue Bison and Major League Baseball stars Tommy Kahnle, Class of 2007 and Jeff Hoffman, Class of 2011 during a jersey retirement ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Kahnle is currently a pitcher for the New York Yankees, and has also played for the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago White Sox. Hoffman is currently a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies.
The schedule for the Dec. 21 Shaker High School Booster Club sponsored event is as follows:
- 5:30 p.m. SHS Girls Basketball game vs. Saratoga (H Gym)
- 6:15-7:00 p.m. Autograph session with Tommy Kahnle and Jeff Hoffman (F Gym)
- 7:00-7:15 p.m. Kahnle & Hoffman jersey retirement ceremony (H Gym)
- 7:30 p.m. SHS Boys Basketball game vs. Saratoga (H Gym)
All games and events are open to the public. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Shaker High School store for the games. The school store is located upstairs, through the main entrance of Shaker. Admission is $3 and covers both games for the evening.
During the autograph session, free photos will be provided for the athletes to autograph. Please-no outside sports paraphernalia for autographs.
“Shaker is very proud to have these professional athletes as alumni,” said Matt Stein, North Colonie’s Director of Athletics, Physical Education, and Health. “This event will be an exciting opportunity for our school community to show our appreciation for Kahnle and Hoffman and to welcome them home through the retirement of their jerseys. Both athletes are great examples for our current students of what hard work and dedication can lead to.”
