Shaker Middle School Counseling Department
At Shaker Middle School, each student is assigned to one of four halls: Algonquin, Haystack, Skylight and Wright. Within each hall, students work with a counselor assigned to that hall. Counselors work with the sixth, seventh and eighth grade Math, Science, Social Studies and English teachers within their respective halls to provide continuity while the students are at the middle school. Although the individual is the focal point of the middle school program, group counseling is also an integral part of the total program. Behavioral, developmental, academic and related issues are addressed in formal conferences. Wellness and self-esteem are targeted as well as pre-career and occupational issues.
