Shaker High School Library
The Shaker High School Library employs two full-time Library Media Specialists to instruct and support students with their academic work. Additionally, two Teaching Assistants are also available to assist students.
At present, the library has 76 laptops and 30 Chrome Books available for student use. The library also has a black and white printer/copier/scanner, as well as a color printer station. Students may also borrow headsets.
Newspapers and Magazines
Shaker High School has an online subscription to the New York Times available to all students while at school. There are also 25 print magazines on hand covering a wide array of subjects.
A large variety of curriculum-related electronic databases are available. Database subject areas include in Literature, History, Science, Government, Social Issues, Health, and Art, to name just a few. Additionally, the library has access to thousands of e-books to further support student research.
We have over 23,000 volumes including reference, non-fiction and fiction, covering all subject areas. The library also holds a small collection of audio books, and books in languages other than English.
Ninth and tenth grader students who would like to use the library during study hall must obtain a pass from library staff before the beginning of their study hall period.
Bus passes are issued to students who stay in the library to work on assignments after school. Students who wish to receive a bus pass must arrive in the library by 2:40 p.m. and stay in the library until bus passes are issued at 3:30 p.m.
