On Wednesday, August 27, six seniors in Shaker High School’s summer school program officially graduated.
Superintendent D. Joseph Corr addressed the graduates in attendance and their families, reminding them that no matter how they arrived at this moment, the important thing is that they achieved their goal.
“The fact that you have a great community here of people, of your parents, other family members, teachers, counselors, and school administrators all celebrating this event with you is very important because we do really care about each and every one of you,” Corr said. “And when we say that all students will be successful here, we really do mean all students.”
“I know that all of you have a great deal of grit and determination,” said Shaker High School Principal Richard Murphy. “It could have been very easy for any one of you to give up, but you all persevered and showed determination, resiliency and grit, and that will go a long way for you in life. I know you will be successful in whatever your next challenge may be.”
SHS summer school principal Alex Finsel encouraged the graduates to take their passion into their next endeavor.
“My words of advice are to think about what it means to be in school and take that forward with you. You’ve all worked very hard and shown you care about your goals, and I want you to take that forward into whatever you may do,” he said.
