More than $600 was collected for Red Nose Day at Blue Creek, a national fundraiser for children living in poverty and to support programs that ensure children in need are safe, healthy and educated. The fundraiser was led by Lea Carafello’s third grade class, which made signs that were posted around the school encouraging students to buy a nose. Half of Red Nose Day’s grant money will be spent in the United States on projects close to home; the other half will be spent in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Red Nose Day is run by Comic Relief Inc., a U.S. public charity.
Beneficiaries of Red Nose Day grants include charity organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America; Children’s Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; Save the Children, and the Global Fund.
