At 7:20 Friday morning, during normal arrival time, a teacher noticed an unfamiliar adult who had entered Shaker High School at the front of the building. That teacher questioned the adult about his intentions for being in the building and was not given a clear answer. That prompted the teacher to stay with the individual and immediately contact Shaker administrators, who in turn immediately contacted the Colonie Police Department. The individual was in the building for no more than four minutes and was followed out by a staff member who watched him get into his car and leave campus. Shaker High School video surveillance has been turned over to police who are actively investigating. There will be increased police patrols on the SHS campus all day today, at dismissal, and during arrival on Monday morning. Staff at Shaker High School, Shaker Junior High School, and Blue Creek Elementary have copies of the surveillance photos and have been instructed to exercise extra vigilance in screening all people who request to enter the buildings. We will provide an update on the investigation at it continues.
