Late last evening, the Colonie Police Department became aware of a text message that was allegedly sent around by a Shaker High School student, referencing hearing another SHS student would possibly be coming to the school armed in the morning. During the overnight hours, police determined the threat was not credible. In an abundance of caution this morning, the Colonie Police Department dispatched officers to the high school and the junior high school and they will be remain there throughout the day.
“As a school district, we work diligently with the Colonie Police Department to constantly ensure the safety of our students,” said Superintendent Corr. “We take all potential threats very seriously, no matter the size or scale. Student safety will always remain the priority in all situations.”
