North Colonie Board of Education adopts proposed 2019-20 school budget
On Wednesday, April 17, the North Colonie Board of Education adopted a $116,318,100 budget proposal for the 2019-20 school year. North Colonie Central School District residents will vote on the proposal on Tuesday, May 21, from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. in the North Colonie Central Office (Goodrich), 91 Fiddlers Lane.
For the fifth consecutive year, continued growth in the taxable values due to new residential and commercial construction will keep the individual tax rate increase to an estimated 1.9 percent, which is 1.4 percent lower than the projected tax levy increase of 3.3 percent. The tax levy meets the district’s allowable limit under the state’s property tax cap law, meaning the district will need a simple majority vote (50 percent plus one vote) for budget approval.
In addition to the budget proposal, voters also will elect candidates to fill two seats on the North Colonie Board of Education. Both seats are for full five-year terms.
Further information about what is contained in this year’s budget will be posted on the district website and sent to district residents over the next few weeks.
