North Colonie Board of Education adopts proposed 2018-19 school budget

| April 16, 2018

During its April 16 monthly meeting, the North Colonie Board of Education adopted a proposed $111.1 million budget for the 2018-19 school year. The proposed plan would increase spending next year by 3.6 percent and result in an estimated tax rate increase of 1.9 percent.

For the fourth consecutive year, continued growth in taxable values due to new residential and commercial construction will keep the individual tax rate increase, an estimated 1.9 percent, lower than the projected tax levy increase of 3.1 percent. The tax levy meets the district’s allowable limit under the state’s property tax cap law, meaning the district will need a simple majority vote (50 percent plus one vote) for budget approval. Further information about what is contained in this year’s budget will be posted on the district website and sent to district residents over the next few weeks.
