The North Colonie Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. William J. Furlong to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Business.
For the past 18 years, Mr. Furlong has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Business in the Cazenovia Central School District in Cazenovia, New York. Prior to working at Cazenovia, Mr. Furlong served as a Cost Accountant at AVM Corporation in Ellicottville, New York, Accounting Supervisor at Cooper Industries in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and Olean, New York, Accounting Supervisor at BMC Industries in Cortland, New York, and Controller at Pall Corporation in Cortland, New York, a Fortune 500 company. For the past 13 years, Mr. Furlong has also served as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Cortland in the Graduate Educational Leadership Program where he has taught classes in School Business Management, Public School Finance, Principles of Financial Leadership, and Facilities Maintenance and Management.
Mr. Furlong has been very active professionally, serving as a member of the Board of Governors of the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal, Executive Director of the OCM BOCES Health Insurance Trust, and Executive Director of the OCM BOCES Workers’ Compensation Consortium.
Mr. Furlong’s 18 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent for Business coupled with a prior 15 years in the private sector as a cost accountant, accounting supervisor, and controller, demonstrates a history of success.

Moreover, he has a commitment to public education and the mission of public schools. Mr. Furlong will be appointed at a special meeting of the Board of Education on Monday, June 1. His anticipated start date is on or about July 15.
